After the establishment of the Ramanattukara Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the Committee took up the task of establishing a School under CBSE syllabus as its first mission. With in 5 months since its inception, it could acquire more than 3 acre of land at Chelembra, construct a pucca RCC building on the campus and commence classes from LKG to Std. VI from 2nd July 2001. The School was named as Vidyashram as suggested by late Sri. S.Ramakrishnanji the then Executive Secretary & Director General of the Bhavan.

The Kendra adopted a very scientific method of selection of teachers for the schools. Applications were invited through statewide advertisement. The academic marks, the marks obtained in talent test, marks obtained in practical test and marks obtained in interview by subject experts were evaluated to make the Rank list. Teachers were appointed as per the ranks.

Academic performance of the school was excellent from the beginning itself. Even students migrated from State syllabus and Malayalam medium schools at the starting were elevated to higher levels and all of them have improved now at par with other students. This was the cause to attract more and more parents to seek admission for their children in the School. Considering the limitations of the facilities available, we had to limit the divisions for each class as two, and resultantly, we were compelled to refuse admission to many seekers. The Vidyashram is affiliated to the CBSE.

It is elevated to senior secondary level from the academic year 2006-2007.

The subjects are taught in a detailed manner suitable to create clear imagination and true concept in the minds of children. The modern technological facilities are appropriately applied for the better teaching in the school. The interactive White Boards and detailed digital CBSE curriculam contents are made available for all classes to teach important topics in association with Manipal K - 12 Education (P) Ltd. and Edurite.

Apart from the prescribed curriculum, various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are being organized regularly. A programme of regular publication of Class Magazines under the supervision of a special teacher designated as Literary & Artistic Aptitude Promoter (LAAP) for the purpose, assisted by other teachers as well, is introduced from academic year 2007- 2008. This is one unique programme the school provides for the holistic development of our children. These programmes entertain and inspire our students and are very useful to explore the inherent talents and improve the intelligence and capabilities of them.

However we try, some children lag behind in some subjects. In order to bring them up to the required standards we are arranging remedial teaching in regular manner.

Bhavan’s Vidyashram was formally inaugurated on 29-10-2005 by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Oommen Chandy.

The Higher Secondary wing of Vidyashram was inaugurated on 1-7-2006 by Hon’ble Minister for Industries Sri. Elamaram Kareem.
